TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ controversial press secretary resigned on Friday.

Christina Pushaw will continue working for the governor but for his reelection campaign, rather than for the state.

She retweeted a copy of the resignation letter she sent to the governor’s chief of staff and director of administration, along with her own message, “Now, the gloves are off,” along with an emoji of a frightened person’s face.

Pushaw had been the governor’s press secretary for 15 months and her letter revealed her deputy Bryan Griffin will be succeeding her in that role.

She’ll be remembered for her fierce loyalty to DeSantis, along with some of the messages she gave to the press, besides “Now, the gloves are off.”
