NEW YORK (TND) — The man wanted for pushing a woman into a train and onto the tracks at a New York City subway station has reportedly been arrested.

The crime happened at about noon Wednesday, underground at 53rd Street and 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

According to police, “Sabir Jones pushed a female victim into a moving train, causing serious physical injuries.”

Late Thursday afternoon, WCBS-TV reported Jones, 39, was taken into custody in New Jersey. The tip came from somebody in Newark who recognized him and called 911.

There had been a reward of up to $3,500 for Jones.

WCBS also reports, “The 30-year-old victim is in critical condition with major head injuries.”

Police said fewer people have been pushed onto subway tracks this year: 15, compared to 22 at the same time last year.
