PENSACOLA, Fla. (TND) — A guy who just wanted a date was almost killed after the young lady he met online introduced him to her supposed “uncle” and things took a violent turn.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida said on Oct. 7,

the victim met Natalie Fonseca “on social media and agreed to have dinner and hang out. During the date, he agreed to go to Fonseca’s house, where she introduced him to her ‘Uncle,’ Nafis Reynolds. A little while later, the three decided to take a ride.”

Authorities said they went “to the victim’s house to continue this unorthodox date. Eventually, they all leave the victim’s house.”

Then things turned really bad and the sheriff’s office referred to Fonseca and Reynolds as “would-be killers.”

During the ride, Fonseca and Reynolds “both hit the victim several times and told him he was going to die. They robbed him of his shoes, his phone, his money, and his car. They then took turns cutting his throat before throwing him over the bridge rail and into Escambia River. They drove away in his stolen car.”

The victim’s car was found after it was set on fire but more importantly, “the victim was somehow able to survive the fall from the bridge and the cuts to his throat.”

Authorities continued, “He swam toward the shore where he flagged down a deputy to tell his incredible tale. Escambia County detectives were quick to the scene and began an investigation. They soon identified the attackers as Natalie Fonseca and Nafis Reynolds. Both were arrested and charged with attempted murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery, and kidnapping.”
