Man indicted for selling cocaine-fentanyl mix to person who overdosed, died

TAMPA, Fla. (TND) — A person died after ingesting a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl and now, the man accused of providing the deadly substance has been indicted.

Federal prosecutors in Florida announced Telvin Wright, 26, was charged with distribution of a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl which resulted in an overdose death, and with possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl.

According to the indictment, Wright sold the drugs to the victim on Feb. 9, 2022, and two days later, he possessed fentanyl with the intent to distribute it.

The distribution charge could lead to 20 years to life in federal prison, and the possession charge could lead to 20 years.

The indictment also said the government intends to take money or other assets Wright has that can be traced to the alleged sale.
