BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (TND) ā A couple in Florida found themselves behind bars, but their baby was in far worse shape.
The Lee County Sheriffās Office said deputies responded to a medical assistance call at their home in Bonita Springs on Sunday and found their 14-month-old daughter unresponsive.
Deputies said Diego Tzoy Pu and Santa Lux Pu De Tzoy told them the girl swallowed several pills described to be oxycodone, but then Diego pulled a baggie from his pocket containing several pills.
The pills reportedly field-tested positive for cocaine.
According to the deputies, the little girl had access to the pills since they were left on a bedside table and before they arrived, she was screaming and crying with a blue pill in her teeth.
The young victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition while Diego, 33, and Santa, 30, were taken to jail.
Theyāre charged with child neglect and drug possession, and the Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating.
