LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (TND) — An 84-year-old man is charged with the beating death of his wife in their home on Tuesday.
Barton Seltmann called police and they found him “with blood on his hands, face and clothing,” according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office outside Philadelphia. Authorities took him to the hospital for a hand injury.
As for his wife, “Margaret Seltmann was found inside the home, obviously deceased.”
“Margaret and Barton Seltmann were arguing about money for veterinary care of their cat when the fight turned physical,” detectives said. “Evidence found on scene indicated that the victim was struck multiple times in the head while lying on the kitchen floor.”
The coroner’s office said Mrs. Seltmann, 85, died from blunt force injuries to the head.
Barton Seltmann was charged with first-degree murder and third-degree murder.
