KEY WEST, Fla. (TND) — A woman in Florida who claimed “she was sexually assaulted by her husband [name] and his younger brother [name]” has been arrested for lying to the sheriff’s office, and she has given birth to her brother-in-law’s baby.

The arrest report from Monroe County in the Keys said Amanda Rose Brooks “sent an email with a list of events she claimed took place between February of 2022 and April of 2022.

“She stated during that time, she was coerced and forced at times to engage in sexual activities including [several examples] with her husband’s brother, [name].

“She further stated that beyond the sexual battery, she was verbally and psychologically abused, and that the house was kept filthy around her children.

“Amanda told me that she knew [her brother-in-law] was medically diagnosed as autistic. Amanda had absconded from Monroe County with her children and made a sworn written statement of the events to Orlando police,” the detective wrote.

Also, “The defendant provided multiple emails full of detailed information including screenshots of messages with her friends, depicting herself as a victim of abuse and mistreatment by the family of her husband, and continued to insist she was being harassed by them about her having left with her children.”

But authorities say none of that was true.

Amanda Rose Brooks was charged with sexual battery, making a false report about a crime, and giving false information about a felony, Dec. 10, 2023. (Monroe Co. Sheriff’s Office)

According to the arrest report, in July of 2022, her mother-in-law “reported that her [younger son] was the victim in this case. She stated she was advised by [name] that Amanda had entered his room on multiple occasions and sexually battered him several times beginning 10 years prior. …

“[The mother] provided a medical doctor’s written diagnosis of [son’s] autism diagnosis and further stated she and her husband [name] were sole caretakers for [son] and he could not have consented to these acts.”

The report contains details of how “Amanda entered his room, pulled his pants down, placed her fingers… He stated that all times he told her ‘no,’ and that ‘they shouldn’t do this.’ … Amanda would tell him to ‘be quiet’ and ‘not tell anyone,’ and that ‘it was okay’ because it ‘made her feel good.’”

The detective also spoke to her husband, who “denied having any involvement” and said “during that time, Amanda was withholding sexual contact from him, and he noticed she was using an ovulation tracker.”

Finally, the detective wrote, “In September 2022, I was advised that Amanda was several months pregnant. Amanda did not return multiple attempts to reach her.”

Authorities had DNA samples taken from the brothers and the baby, born in January of this year, and the state laboratory determined Brooks’ brother-in-law is the baby’s father, “corroborating the sexual contact took place between Amanda and [name].

“No evidence was discovered that corroborated any of Amanda’s statement of events. Furthermore, pictures and videos of home security footage disproved Amanda’s statements about home life.”

Brooks, 36, was arrested on Dec. 10 and charged with sexual battery, making a false report about a crime, and giving false information about a felony.
