PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (TND) — A woman in Florida called the sheriff’s office to say her brother had stabbed their mother in the neck “and was actively trying to stab their sister” on the morning after Christmas.
Authorities said they found the 54-year-old mother “had sustained multiple stab wounds” and the suspect, Connor Crumrine, “on top of his sister [name] in his bedroom, actively engaged in a struggle.
“Connor still had the knife in his possession but was not actively using it at the time.
“Connor was given multiple commands, which he ignored, and was ultimately tased, continued to be non-compliant with law enforcement orders and had to be physically removed from the bedroom, and detained on scene.”
The arrest report said the mother, Jennifer Crumrine, “had a visible stab wound to the neck” and “was determined to be in critical, life-threatening condition.”
She was taken to a hospital, where she died.
The 25-year-old sister he was reportedly going after in the bedroom had “a stab wound to her upper back and was” taken to a different hospital.
The suspect, Connor Crumrine, had “a minor laceration injury to his hand and was” taken to a third hospital.
And the 27-year-old sister who called 911 had “a minor laceration injury to her hand and was” taken to the hospital where her mom went.
That sister told a detective, “The family planned on going on a cruise” that day but the night before, “Connor began making statements to the family, trying to teach them how to get into a fetal position and making statements about heaven and hell.
“During this time, Connor would also make a finger gun gesture towards them.
“Due to a fear that Connor may cause harm to them during the night, the rest of the family kept their bedroom doors locked.”
The plans changed.
The arrest report said that morning, the mother told the sisters “she would not be going on the cruise so that she could arrange for Connor to go” get mental health help.
She told Connor “and he started procrastinating.”
Then, she asked a sister to call the behavioral health center so they’d expect Connor and while “on the phone, she heard Jennifer scream, ‘he’s stabbing me, he’s stabbing me.’”
Connor Crumrine, 23, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as resisting.
Online records do not show a murder charge. He’s being held at the Charlotte County Jail.
