THE VILLAGES, Fla. (TND) — A man in Florida is in trouble after an argument turned into an alleged act of violence on New Year’s Eve, and apparently, it wasn’t the first incident of its kind.

A woman called the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and said she left home “due to being in fear of” Patrick Thomas Heilig.

According to his arrest report, the victim said an hour and a half earlier, he “was verbally yelling at her.

“The victim advised the defendant threw a piece of salami that struck the left part of her cheek.

“The victim advised the defendant yelled, ‘I threw it at you to get your attention.’”

This was reportedly not the first time an argument turned physical.

The arrest report said exactly a week earlier, on Christmas Eve, “The defendant shoved her left shoulder using an unknown hand.

“The victim stated the defendant used his other hand to catch her, so she did not hit the ground.

“The victim only believes he caught her because” there was a witness who saw “the whole incident.

“The victim advised this occurred in the garage.”

Despite this, “The victim stated she did not want to press charges.”

The deputy didn’t see any physical injuries to the victim.

As for Patrick Heilig, he didn’t deny anything,

but the deputy explained, “He was so belligerent, I was not able to interview him about this incident.”

Heilig was arrested but the incident was not over.

The deputy was going to take him to jail in the back of a Ford Explorer SUV but, “The defendant stated he was too big and tall to get into my Explorer of a patrol car so we utilized a bigger patrol car, a Tahoe.”

The arrest report noted Heilig stands 6’2” tall and weighs 240 pounds, and the full-size Chevy Tahoe didn’t solve the problem.

“After numerous commands for the defendant to get into the patrol car,” the deputy wrote, “he refused.

“The defendant used his dead body weight and would not move.

“The defendant had to be assisted in getting into the patrol car by deputies.”

Heilig, 57, was charged with battery and resisting.

He was booked into jail Sunday night, less than three hours before the new year, and he wasn’t released until Friday afternoon.
