CLUTE, Texas (TND) — A teacher in Texas will soon be out of a job after she was indicted on a dozen criminal charges involving sexual misconduct with a teenage girl who was her student.
Brandyn Hargrove was indicted on Dec. 19, and booked into jail two days later, on six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure.
All are felonies and they date back to 2007.
Hargrove taught English at Brazoswood High School — including Advanced Placement courses — in Clute, a town south of Houston on the gulf coast.
KPRC quoted the police chief saying the alleged victim was a former student who was 15 to 17 years old at the time.
KTRK reported Hargrove was once teacher of the year, and the victim came forward in September, telling police about two years of incidents that occurred off-campus.
The Brazosport school district put out a statement after Hargrove’s arrest, saying in part, “Upon notification of the investigation initiated by an outside agency on September 29, 2023, Brazosport ISD took immediate action and placed the employee on administrative leave.”
Hargrove is now 43 years old. She’s out of jail in lieu of $240,000 bond.
