ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (TND) — A man in Florida is under arrest for the murder of his grandfather, seven weeks ago.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reported 71-year-old James Khoury was found shot to death in front of a home near Englewood back on Dec. 28 at 5:15 a.m.

Authorities said there were no known witnesses or surveillance video, but they secured the scene and started investigating.

The first clue was that the weapon used to kill Khoury had been a rifle.

Then, other pieces of evidence were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for testing, and that led to detectives finding probable cause to arrest Joshua James Nareau.

In fact, authorities said he was at the scene of the killing when deputies first arrived.

Nareau, 23, was arrested for second-degree murder on Thursday.

No possible motive has been revealed, but the murder was not premeditated.

On Jan. 11, between the killing and arrest, Nareau was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
