CLERMONT, Fla. – It wasn’t the greeting anyone would want, but it wasn’t unexpected for three police officers, considering the call they got: a “battery in progress,” and “a male and female were up all night fighting and using drugs.

“Upon arrival, I could hear screaming in the house and items being destroyed,” one of the cops, in Florida, wrote on the morning of Sept. 29.

“We knocked at the front door,” the arrest report continued, “with a delayed answer.

“The subject answered the door, screaming for us to leave her property. The subject was highly aggressive and was making threats that today was not the day, and closed the door in an aggressive manner.

“We again knocked on the door with delayed response. The subject answered the door and continued her aggression toward officers, screaming for us to leave her property, and that she was alone with no one inside, which I knew was not true.

“At this point, I believed that the subject was in crisis, possibly due to drug use, and that she was not capable of self-care.

“Further, a juvenile was alone in the house with her, and it was important that the situation be stabilized to protect the juvenile.”

The arrest report did not mention a second person of any age or gender in the home.

It did say the other two officers “both had prior interaction with the subject, Chelsea Fast, so they attempted to have her exit the home to no avail. Chelsea was the victim of the battery we originally received the call about.

“Answering the door for the second time, [the corporal] tried to ask questions pertaining to the battery call, but the subject continued to scream and demand the officers leave.

“She then grabbed a chair and threw it in the direction of officers. She again slammed the door and went back inside the home.

“Additional screaming could be heard inside the home, so we continued to knock at the door. At one point, she opened the door and stepped through the threshold of the door, attempting to push [the corporal] backwards off the porch.

“[The corporal] grabbed her wrist and began to control her wrist. She hit [the corporal] in the chest and he pulled her from the porch. At this point, myself and [the other officer] took her to the ground.

“While on the ground, she kicked at officers repeatedly, kicking [the other officer] in the torso. Handcuffs were placed on her wrists and she continued to kick and scream at officers.

“While trying to calm her down, Chelsea made verbal threats that she would harm everyone there, and that we ‘would pay.’

“Eventually, a restraint wrap was placed on her legs and EMS was requested for her benefit. To the extent possible, she was maintained any recovery position to promote free breathing.

“Fire and EMS units arrived, and she was picked up and placed on a stretcher. She continued her aggressive behavior throughout. She was transported to [the hospital] and I followed the ambulance.

“While at the hospital, urine was collected to check for drugs in her system. Test results confirm that Chelsea had cocaine, marijuana, and Adderall in her urine at the time of the sample at [the hospital] at 1:30 p.m.,” the arrest report said. That was about three hours after the incident started.

Fast, 33, was not charged in connection with the drugs, but she faces two felonies: simple battery on law enforcement and resisting with violence.

She was released in lieu of $10,000 bond after almost 23 hours in jail, and she pleaded not guilty to the charges.
