Teen charged with shooting video of lewd or lascivious molestation of girlfriend’s daughter, age 6

OCALA, Fla. – A woman “reported that she found a concerning video on her live-in boyfriend, 18-year-old defendant Cody Black’s cell phone.

“[She] stated the video depicted the defendant engaged in inappropriate behavior with her daughter, six-year-old victim [name].

“[The mother] stated she sent the video to her own cell phone for the purpose to show it to law enforcement.

“[She] also took the defendant’s phone and placed it into her car before leaving the incident location and calling law enforcement.”

That’s the basics from the arrest report in Florida in September.

NOTE: Then, the report got more detailed.

It said a deputy informed the corporal writing the report,

“He observed the video on [the mother’s] phone and it depicted the defendant’s erect penis exposed and him placing the victim’s hand onto his penis. [The mother] confirmed that it was in fact the defendant and the victim depicted in the video.”

A case coordinator conducted a forensic interview with the victim.

“[She] showed the victim an anatomically correct photograph,” the report said, “and discussed the different male and female body parts. The victim denied touching anyone in private areas and did not seem to be aware she had been recorded at any point.”

The report continued with the mother telling authorities,

“She moved in with the defendant approximately one-and-a-half weeks ago, but they have known each other for a few years.”

Neither her age nor the circumstances of their meeting are part of the report.

“[She] stated they began dating around June or July of this year before moving in with him and his family at the incident location,” it said.

The mother explained she looked through his phone

because “she has had issues with the defendant messaging other girls, specifically young teenage girls. [She] advised she has gone through the defendant’s cell phone before and found the inappropriate messages between him and the teenage girls.”

Then, on the evening of Sept. 22,

“She walked in on the defendant in the bathroom, and it looked like his pants were down and he might have been doing something inappropriate. [She] indicated the defendant quickly stopped what he was doing, as if he did not want her to catch him.”

She claimed she found the evidence overnight, “while the defendant was asleep, and she went through his cell phone. [She] stated she eventually discovered a file that contained videos of the defendant with the victim. [She] stated when she realized the videos contained the victim, she texted the videos to herself, just in case the videos got deleted from the defendant’s phone. [She] stated she also took the defendant’s phone, changed his password, and then placed it into her vehicle before calling the sheriff’s office.

“[She] stated the videos appeared to be either from Sept. 18th or 19th. [She] confirmed that it was around 9 a.m. in the morning of either the 18th or 19th that she left the victim alone with the defendant while she went to [the] store to get medication. [She] stated she was only gone for approximately an hour-and-a-half, and the victim was left in the defendant’s care. [She] also stated the video depicts the defendant on the couch in the living room with the victim; she stated the living room is where the defendant always sleeps.

“[She] proceeded to show videos of the defendant and the victim from her cell phone. I observed three videos,” the corporal wrote, “that appeared to be of the same incident involving the victim and the defendant.

Those videos were described. 

Black was taken from his home to the sheriff’s office, where,

“[He] ultimately admitted to recording the incident with the victim, but indicated he did not record the video for any particular reason.

“The defendant stated the victim was messing around with him and trying to pull his pants down. The defendant claimed he simply allowed the victim to pull his pants down because he thought it would make her stop messing with him. The defendant admitted his pants and underwear were pulled down and his penis was eventually exposed. The defendant also admitted he started to get aroused; he claimed he began touching his penis in an effort to prevent an erection. 

“The defendant admitted that when the victim was pulling his pants down and as the incident progressed, he started to think about sexual things, but claimed he was thinking about [the mother] to get aroused, not the victim herself. 

“The defendant also admitted to grabbing the victim’s arm and her arm possibly grazing against his penis, but denied he was intentionally trying to place her hand on his penis.

“The defendant indicated his other family members were home and in their respective bedrooms during the incident. The defendant stated he was worried one of his family members were going to walk out into the living room and see what was happening with the victim. The defendant also indicated he was worried about [his girlfriend] seeing the videos because she was possibly on her way home after he recorded the incident. 

“The defendant admitted to moving the videos from his video gallery into a specific file; he claimed he did that inadvertently and it was for no particular reason that he saved the video in that separate file. The defendant admitted that after moving the video to the file, he went back and deleted it from his video gallery. The defendant claimed he forgot the video was in the file and continued to deny storing it in that file for any particular reason.”

Black was arrested for lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim less than 12 years old. He’s being held without bail.

There’s no word where the victim and her mother are now living.
