Will the news media be attacked for not showing Trump's military parade?

‘Very big force’: Will the news media be attacked for not showing Trump’s military parade?

The question is absolutely appropriate.

Ask the folks at the Associated Press what happened for refusing to use the name Gulf of America in every instance without qualification.

’Tis the season, but no storms predicted in the Gulf of America in the next 7 days. (National Hurricane Center)

President Donald Trump is suing Paramount/CBS for $20 billion, claiming the news program somehow defamed him by editing the answer to a question given by election opponent Kamala Harris that was not about Trump, who turned down a similar interview.

That lawsuit could also mean trouble for Paramount’s sale to Skydance Media. (Is Trump’s reputation worth $20 billion?)

And that comes after Disney/ABC settled a suit for $15 million over what George Stephanopoulos said about a case in which Trump was the defendant.

A jury in the E. Jean Carroll civil suit found Trump liable for defamation and sexual abuse, but not the more serious accusation of rape according to New York law, as Stephanopoulos asserted.

(Again, Trump’s reputation.)

Trump is said to want much more from CBS than what ABC paid.

Schedule screw-up?

To say the Trump administration has been unfriendly to the news media would be an understatement, and don’t look for the broadcast networks to cover the controversial birthday parade in Washington live.

It’s not because the parade won’t be historic; it sure will be for us here in the USA.

But ABC, NBC, and Fox have live sports scheduled for 6 p.m. ET Saturday; local newscasts will be preempted.

The Big 3 only plan to show the military festivities on their streaming platforms, and Fox News will have big coverage on cable.

Did anyone at the White House check with programming executives before finalizing the arrangements? Neither Trump nor the Army were born yesterday.

What if…?

As always, breaking news could force the networks to break in to programming.

Protests are planned around the country. Trump doesn’t want anything to ruin his show in our nation’s capital.

“For those people who want to protest, they’re going to be met with very big force,” Trump warned Tuesday. “I haven’t even heard about a protest, but, you know, this is people that hate our country,” he added.

Happy birthday, U.S. Army.
