Boyertown school board votes to allow transgender student to use boys' locker room

I wish we could’ve done more with this story, but certainly couldn’t interview the student at the center of it because he was a minor and this is a sensitive issue involving a school. (That’s even though we knew internally.) I liked copying and pasting the school district’s FAQs, so readers would really think about this important issue. I also found it interesting to become more familiar with GLAAD’s resource guide on the subject. But the story was posted on a Tuesday morning and the school board vote took place that same day, probably in the evening. In the headline, I definitely would’ve used the word “let” instead of “allow,” and I doubt I would’ve spelled “boy’s” wrong in the headline and “boys'” correctly in the third paragraph. The final version was posted Wednesday morning.
