GROVELAND, Fla. – A woman told police “she heard a male voice in her [age] daughter’s room, which is across from hers, so she went to check on her daughter because there are no males that live in the residence, nor were any permitted to be there.
“When she went to open her daughter’s bedroom door,” the arrest report continued, “she discovered it was locked.
“A few moments later, the daughter opened the door and the mother confronted her about having a subject in the room, and her daughter told her she was alone and no one was there.
“After a few moments of speaking with her daughter, she noticed her sheets from the bed were moving, and a subject appeared from the side of the bed, which was the defendant.
UPDATE: He was arrested again on Dec. 12 and held without bond. Details here.
“The mother confronted him about being in the room and told him to leave, but he was refusing to leave because he could not find his car keys.”
That’s what brought police in Florida to the home after 2 a.m. on Sept. 12.
They wrote about finding Darius Tyre Monroe outside and, “When he observed officers, he stood in the street and raised his hands up, and he was detained.
“While he was being detained, he made the spontaneous utterance to [an officer] that he was just ‘f*****g.’”
The arrest report said the daughter told officers, “She let the male subject in the house and they had engaged in sexual activity.
“The daughter said she lied about her age and told him she was [redacted], and she thought he was 17.”
It also said, “The mother did go through her daughter’s cell phone and in text messages between the defendant and her daughter, there was discussion of sexual activity before coming over, and how she was going to sneak him into the house.”
Authorities said Monroe, who is 18, admitted “he went to the residence to have sex with the daughter, and they have been talking via text for several months.”
This was reportedly their second time.
“He admitted to showing up at the residence,” the arrest report said, “and the daughter sneaking him in by hoisting down a sheet and lifting him up to the second story through her window.”
Then, it described what happened between the two in detail, and cleaning up “with an article of clothing he found in the room.
“Not long after they finished was when her mother knocked on the door and he hid in the sheets.”
Police reported, “He was asked if he knew her age and he said they never discussed it, and he thought she was his age, which would have been [redacted] at the time they started talking.
“He signed a Consent To Search form for his phone and subsequently showed [an officer] the messages between the daughter/victim and him tonight.
“In the messages, there is no discussion of age, but there is discussion of sexual activity occurring, and how he could sneak into the house without her mother finding out.
“At this time,” officers concluded, “it is evident that the defendant, who is 18 years old, and the victim who is only [redacted], did engage in consensual sexual intercourse with each other; however, due to the victim’s age, she is not able to provide consent to engage in sexual intercourse; therefore, the defendant did commit the crime of lewd or lascivious battery, and was arrested for said crime.”
The girl’s age was blacked out in the report but the charge specifically notes, “Sexual activity with a person 12 years of age or older, but less than 16 years of age.” It’s a second-degree felony.
Monroe was released after 31 hours in jail in lieu of $10,000 and the order he “may not have contact with a minor child.”
