Woman charged with ‘texting harassing and threatening messages’ to sister over mom’s $8 million estate

LEESBURG, Fla. – This squabble between sisters takes the term “sibling rivalry” to an extreme level.

The victim told a sheriff’s deputy in Florida, “Her sister Stephanie Bailey, suspect, has been texting harassing and threatening messages to her.”

The investigation started in late September but the victim said, “The harassing text messages have been occurring since March of 2023.

“In the last text message, dated July 10, 2024, Stephanie stated the following threats, that she was

‘going to shoot the f*** out of your neighbor hood’ and ‘I’m going to shoot the f*** out of you. Paybacks are a b****. Your going to get it.’”

According to the arrest report, “The text also contains a lot of profanity, name-calling, and accusations.

“[The victim] stated that this all stems from their mother’s estate. The mother is still living, but is in a nursing home.

“[The victim] advised that the estate is valued at approximately $8 million.

“She noted that there are three beneficiaries, all sisters. [The victim] is the power of attorney for the estate.

“She stated that all three will receive $18,000 a year from the estate. [The victim] advised Stephanie feels that she is entitled to her third of the estate now, and thinks that by intimidation, she will get her third. [The victim] stated that there are attorneys involved in the estate planning.

“[The victim] said that prior to her installing cameras around her residence, Stephanie would show up unannounced and harass her, and late at night leave notes on her door.

“[The victim] provided some copies of the text communications and a sworn affidavit with intent” to prosecute.

Stephanie Joe Bailey, who turns 69 on this Oct. 23, was charged with making written threats to kill, which is a felony.

She spent two days in jail until her release in lieu of $2,500 bond, and she’s barred from having contact with her sister.
