LEESBURG, Fla. – The violence sure got people’s attention.
Police got “three different anonymous phone calls” saying a woman “was actively battering” a man at a gas station in Florida.
Officers arrived to find “both the victim and suspect, identified as Cynthia Louise Strunk McCann, herein referred to as defendant.
“The victim and the defendant both advised they have been in a dating romantic relationship for five years, and have been living together.
“The victim stated they were attempting to go to a nearby hotel,” according to the arrest report, which tells the story, “but the defendant was trespassed from that location and was not allowed on the property.
“He then advised that he attempted to walk away from the defendant [and] the defendant continued to follow him until they sat down and had a conversation at the incident location.
“He advised that the defendant started to become physical, and began to punch the victim on his head, and was using her fingernails to scratch the victim[’s] arms and chest.
“While speaking to the victim, officers observed that the victim had multiple scratch wounds on both his forearms and hands, which appeared to be defensive wounds. Officers then confirmed that the victim had fresh red scratch marks on the back of his neck and a red mark on the back of his head. The victim then displayed what appeared to be fresh scratch marks on his chest to officers on scene.”
Then, officers spoke to the defendant and reported she told the same story: that she couldn’t go to the hotel so she followed the victim to the gas station, “where they sat down to have a conversation.”
Apparently her conversation with the cops stopped at that point. The arrest report then noted, “The defendant had marks on the left side of her face that looked fresh.”
Officers determined Strunk McCann was at fault, due to “the visible physical injuries to the victim, the verbal statements provided on scene from the victim, as well as the three anonymous phone calls detailing the defendant had been striking the victim.”
She was arrested for domestic battery back on Aug. 11 and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Then, Strunk McCann spent 19 days in jail, when she changed her plea to no contest and was sentenced to time served, fees and court costs, plus a year of probation.
The probation was to include a batterer intervention assessment and substance abuse evaluation, but Strunk McCann, 52, only made it two months.
Amended Violation of Probation Affidavit, Nov. 4, 2024 by Lenny Cohen on Scribd
Her Amended Violation of Probation Affidavit lists five violations, plus the two assessments.
Among the violations was to “live and remain at liberty without violating any law,” and Strunk McCann was arrested on Nov. 1.
Her arrest report said somebody told police “multiple transient subjects were camping on the property,” which appears to be a produce shack, with a photo on Google Maps.
Strunk McCann “was camped” there, even though “she was previous trespassed from the location on the date of Oct. 24, 2024,” a week earlier.

Strunk McCann spent 11 days in jail and was released after signing a plea agreement. She was sentenced to time served and her probation was ended.
Neither the arrest report nor court records said why she had been trespassed from the hotel or the produce shack.
