PAISLEY, Fla. – The man who clawed and bit an older neighbor who complained his TV was too loud is out of jail and on probation.
“I made contact with the victim, who advised that he went to the defendant’s camper,” a sheriff’s deputy in Florida wrote last Sept. 14.
But Richard Fredrick Paauwe didn’t turn down the volume. Instead, he got violent.
“The victim stated that the defendant then started to argue with him, which escalated to a physical altercation,” the arrest report said. “The victim advised that the defendant started to claw him in the face and arms.
“The victim advised that he attempted to restrain the defendant on the bed, to which the defendant bit him on his right wrist. The victim then stated that he left the defendant’s camper.”
As for Paauwe’s side of the story, “The victim came into his camper and proceeded to strangle him over the television being too loud,” he told the deputy. “The defendant stated that he then proceeded to claw and bite the victim, due to being in fear for his life.

“The defendant advised that when the victim left his camper, he proceeded to go back to sleep.”
Paauwe ended up with blood stains on his fingernails. The victim also had evidence.
“It should be noted,” the deputy wrote, “that I observed multiple lacerations on the victim’s face, under his right eye, and on his right arm. I also observed a bite mark on the victim’s right wrist, and his eyes were also bloodshot.”
Paauwe, 55, was charged with battery on a person 65 or older. He didn’t pay his bond, which was set at $1,000, and remained in jail for 40 days, until an Oct. 24 court event.
He pleaded no contest to a lesser battery charge and was released from jail, and sentenced to a year of probation.
All that’s known about the victim is he’s a man over the age of 65. Everything else about him was redacted from the arrest report.
